MTN Project Fame 6 begins with 16 contestants • Winner to get N5m, SUV

After combing ten major cities across West Africa in search of raw musical talents that can be refined into award-winning superstars, MTN Project Fame started its sixth season with pomp and pageantry as it brought 18 contestants on the newly designed Ultima Studio stage where the audience witnessed first hand amazing performance.
After a recap of the auditions, the main business of the night started with the judges’ assessment of the 18, with 12 contestants securing entry into the academy.

The remaining six contestants took turns to fight for the three spots left in the Project Fame Academy. Niniola Apata stepped on stage and blew everyone away with her rendition of Celine Dion’s version of ‘Natural Woman’. Gbemisola Rowland was next to grab the opportunity as she sang ‘Falling’ by Alicia Keys. Next was Johnny Drille Ighodaro taking up the challenge with ‘Kiss from A Rose’ by Seal. His performance was indeed a beautiful one. Bespectacled Daniel Chukwudi Ubido took to the stage to do Craig David’s ‘Unbelievable’. Next was Veronica Ordu’s presentation of ‘My All’ by Mariah Carey. Olawale Ojo’s performance was a classic case of saving the best for last. He mounted the stage and blew everyone away with ‘No One’ by Alicia Keys.
While the judges deliberated on these performances, Iyanya, the kukere crooner took to the stage. This time not to ‘whine the waist’ but to everyone’s amazement, he did his debut single ‘Love truly’ and then went ahead to dazzle everyone with West Life’s ‘Flying without wings’.
After this rendition, he left the stage leaving everyone yearning for more.
The moment of truth came as the six contestants walked up the stage to get the judges’ verdict on that would fill the last 3 places. In another opening gala surprise, the judges increased the number of places from 3 to 4 which allowed  Gbemisola to narrowly escape elimination, while Veronica from Port Harcourt and Daniel from Ilorin’s journey sadly came to an end on this season’s Project Fame competition.
Unlike previous seasons, year’s winner will go home with N5 million, a brand-new SUV, plus a recording contract worth several millions of Naira, the first runner up will now go home with N3 million and a new mid-size salon car, the second runner up will walk away with N2 million and a brand new salon Car, while N2 million for the third runner up.
