Fashola’s dad dies at 80


Alhaji Ademola Fashola, father of Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola is dead. He died in the early hours of Monday at the age of 80.

In an official statement signed by the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State governor , Mr. Lanre Babalola, the state government  said:   “In total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, we announce the passage of our husband, father, grandfather  and great grandfather, Ibrahim Ademola Bayo Fashola, which occurred on Monday, August 5, 2013.
 “He is survived by his wives, children and great grand children. He will be buried at Vaults and Gardens, Ikoyi at 1p.m.”
Daily Sun gathered that he had been battling an undisclosed ailment, which informed his being flown abroad for medical treatment last year.
Our correspondent gathered from sources at the Government House, Ikeja that the governor, who was observing Umrah service in Saudi Arabia, had cut short his visit to the holy land and was expected to be in the state today to witness his father’s burial ceremony.
As the news of his demise filtered into Government House, workers discussed the sad development in groups  even as people sympathized with the governor, describing his father as very jovial and amiable.
The late Fashola worked in Daily Times for many years and rose to the position of an advert manager in the company. He is survived by eight children, amongst who is the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola.
