Osun State Police Command has commenced
investigation into the case of attempted defilement of a four-year-old baby by
one Olateju, a barber at Yemoja area in Ido-Osun, Egbedore Local Government
Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mrs
Dorothy Gimba, who ordered the investigation, directed the family unit
department of the state police command to ensure proper medical care for the
victim, a pupil of pre-primary school in Ido-Osun.
It was gathered that Olateju had attempted
to defile the victim at his barbing salon on August 2, before one Gbolahan
caught him and reported the matter at Dada Estate Police Station in Osogbo.
Olateju was said to have undressed the
little girl and attempted to
forcefully had carnal knowledge of her before some of his neighbours noticed it
and arrested him.
The suspect, however, escaped from the
scene of the incident and his whereabouts could not be ascertained yet.
The victim was later handed over to the
police which prompted Mrs. Gimba to order detectives in the command to ensure
the arrest of the suspect.
She also directed that the victims should
be given adequate medical attention.
