6,000 patients to benefit from MTN free eye surgery in Jigawa

In its effort to maintain good rapport between the company and the people of the state, telecommunications giant MTN Nigeria has concluded plans to offer free eye surgery to over 6,000 eye patients in the state.

This was disclosed by the state Eye care coordinator in the Ministry of Health, Mr.

AbdurRahman Umar, while speaking to newsmen in his office at the state capital.

He stated that the exercise was being rendered under the MTN eye restoration foundation to maintain good understanding with their numerous customers nationwide.

The coordinator further explained that the state Ministry of Health had already begun a two- week screening exercise for the beneficiaries across the state.

He also urged the traditional rulers across the state to support the programmer through mobilizing people, especially those living with eye problems in their communities.

According to the coordinator, the exercise targets 2,000 eye cataract patients, 2,000 patients with different eye diseases, while the remaining 2,000 patients with reading problem are also to benefit from the treatment.

He finally confirmed that, the exercise was expected to commence on September 2, 2013 as planned by the MTN management,  "unless there is change by the MTN eye restoration foundation."
