In its effort to maintain
good rapport between the company and the people of the state, telecommunications
giant MTN Nigeria has concluded plans to offer free eye surgery to over 6,000
eye patients in the state.
This was disclosed by the
state Eye care coordinator in the Ministry of Health, Mr.
AbdurRahman Umar, while
speaking to newsmen in his office at the state capital.
He stated that the exercise
was being rendered under the MTN eye restoration foundation to maintain good
understanding with their numerous customers nationwide.
The coordinator further
explained that the state Ministry of Health had already begun a two- week screening
exercise for the beneficiaries across the state.
He also urged the
traditional rulers across the state to support the programmer through
mobilizing people, especially those living with eye problems in their
communities.
According to the
coordinator, the exercise targets 2,000 eye cataract patients, 2,000 patients
with different eye diseases, while the remaining 2,000 patients with reading
problem are also to benefit from the treatment.
He finally confirmed that,
the exercise was expected to commence on September 2, 2013 as planned by the
MTN management, "unless there
