Another female teacher, 2 children abducted in Edo

As the people of Edo State await the release of human rights lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome, another female primary school teacher at Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of the state, Mrs Queen Ogbodu was on Monday reportedly abducted with two children by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers.

The teacher, a staff of Ile Primary School and the children whose identities could not be ascertained, were allegedly abducted by their captors while returning from school.  When contacted, Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP Moses Eguavoen who confirmed the incident, said full scale investigation had commenced.
Reacting, the Chairman of the Edo State chapter of the  National Union of Teachers (NUT), Patrick Ikosimi, described it as sad and expressed disbelief over the rising wave of kidnapping in the state.
“I received the information today (Tuesday) and it is very sad. Teachers are the least paid. In fact, the day a teacher receives his salary, that is when his trouble begins,” he said.
