It was gathered that Success, whose parent’s house is close to the school, had left home unnoticed and went to the school premises thinking his siblings were there.
It was further gathered that as soon as the little boy entered the school premises, Enyinnaya, who was already in one of the classrooms, beckoned on him to come.
Enyinnaya was alleged to have carried the baby and pretending to be going to buy biscuit for the lad, took him outside the school compound through another entrance.
The suspect was said to have carried the little boy towards a different direction from the baby’s home.
However, luck ran out on the suspect when a man, who knew the baby accosted him and sought to find out where he was taking the boy to since they were outside the vicinity of the home of the boy’s parents.
When Enyinnaya could not give a convincing account of where he was taking Success to, the man whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, alerted other people in the village who then invited the police.
Enyinnaya, who was arrested by the police had on interrogation, allegedly admitted he stole the child but said it was one Chikaodi that sent him to steal the child and bring him to his (Chikaodi’s) house where he said, he was taking the boy to before he was accosted and arrested.
Meanwhile, Chikaodi is said to be on the run and police have appealed to members of the public who have useful information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspect to contact the nearest police station.
